Twelfth Night
1999

4th to 7th August
Directed by Terry Ram

I hate ingratitude more in a man
Than lying, vainness, babbling drunkenness
Or any taint of vice whose strong corruption
Inhabits our frail blood - Viola, Act III Sc 4

1999 was the first year in which we repeated a play. We returned to Twelfth Night, the play with which the Abbey Shakespeare Players opened their continuous run in 1987. By this time we were equipped to do full justice to the musical elements of the play, with new music composed by Richard Morris, a nine-piece live band and a professional opera singer, Linda Kitchen, to take the role of Feste.
